This is the Montana Outlaw BBQ version of a great summer staple. Instead of tending the smoker for hours during your BBQ celebration – why not make some easy and tasty smash burgers? People will be lining up for seconds, and thirds.

Beef Rub
Black Pepper, salt and garlic is perfect to elevate your burger game. We used it on the patties, as well as on the diced onions for some extra flavor. Small: 7.0 oz | Large: 13.8 oz
Smash Burgers

Ingredients
Smash Burgers
- 2 lbs Ground hamburger we use 60%-70% lean ground chuck
- Mustard
- Olive oil
- Montana Outlaw BBQ Beef Rub
- Sweet onions diced
- American cheese sliced
- Condiments of your choice we use pickles, tomatoes, lettuce
- Smash burger sauce recipe below
Smash Burger Sauce
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise we use Duke's
- 2 tbsp Ketchup
- 1 tbsp Sweet relish
- 1/2 tsp Vinegar
Instructions
- Coat diced onions with olive oil and Montana Outlaw BBQ Beef Rub, caramelize on griddle.
- Make hamburger into 1/3 lb patties.
- Brush on mustard (as a binder) and add a light coat of Montana Outlaw BBQ Beef Rub. Flip the patties and repeat.
- Place patties on hot griddle and smash using spatula or burger press.
- Once patties are cooked to medium, add sliced American cheese and warm until melted.
- Meanwhile, coat inside of buns with olive oil and toast on griddle.
- Assemble smash burger with condiments of your choice and smash burger sauce.
Smash Burger Sauce
- Mix ingredients together and place in the fridge until you’re ready to use.
Notes
If you want your smash burger sauce a little spicier, we suggest adding a little sriracha.
